Model · Version 1.0 · Oct 2026

An unanswered high-fit postgraduate enquiry costs a university about USD 2,600 in expected tuition.

The enquiry value model prices an enquiry as the tuition an institution can expect from it. Response speed and personalisation change how likely an enquiry is to become an enrolment, so each can be priced too.

Edvion enquiry value model, v1.0, Oct 2026. Modelled estimates built from priors; to be refitted with pilot data. A lost enquiry is one answered after seven days or never, compared with a response handled by Q.

How it works

Six steps, the same for every kind of institution. Only the inputs change.

  1. 1

    Lifetime value

Annual fee × years enrolled, net of discounts and drop-out.

  2. 2

    Baseline conversion

Enquiry to application × application to offer × offer to enrolment.

  3. 3

    Worth of an enquiry

Lifetime value × baseline conversion. High-fit enquiries convert at a multiple of the average.

  4. 4

    Speed lever

Faster replies keep more enquirers live, lifting enquiry-to-application.

  5. 5

    Personalisation lever

Answering the actual question lifts applications, and later, enrolment from offer.

  6. 6

    Cost of a lost enquiry

Value with a Q-handled reply, minus value when the reply comes after seven days or never.

Nothing is applied to application-to-offer. That is your admissions decision, and Q does not touch it.

What moves the answer most

Response speed.

The model assumes an enquirer is less likely to still be choosing when a slow reply finally arrives. The curve is deliberately gentle, because international study decisions take months. Response time is logged on every enquiry, so a pilot measures it directly.

By segment

Lower fees convert more often, so most enquiries are worth about the same.

The model leaves out

  • Counsellor hours recovered
  • Marketing spend already sunk into each enquiry
  • Agent commission avoided on direct enrolments
  • Referral, alumni and brand effects
  • Progression revenue from pathway to degree

Run it with your numbers

Six inputs: enquiry volume by channel, stage conversions, current response times, tuition and discounts, seat capacity, and past enrolment outcomes.
